ABOUT ME

Goutam is presently pursuing research towards the synthesis of small molecules having therapeutic activity. He has obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), India in 2006, after which started his Postdoctoral work towards the development of carbohydrate-based molecular transporters at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. In 2008, he moved to UNL, Lincoln followed by the University of California, Riverside. During his stay in UCR, he has synthesized Syringolin, a proteasome inhibitor as well as a library of indolyl-quinones used as nerve growth factor activators. He worked as a Scientist at Sai Life Sciences, Pune for a couple of years. Later joined as a Post-doctoral associate at Ewha Women’s University, South Korea in 2013. In 2015, he has joined Invictus Oncology as Scientist II and work towards the synthesis of anti-cancer drugs. From March 2018 he has joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. He has co-authored over 21 scientific publications and 5 patents. His research interests include carbohydrate chemistry, total synthesis, and medicinal chemistry. His favorite pastime is playing outdoor games, traveling and photography.
